Wondering: Do You Consent To Be Governed?

March 2, 2010 by Rick Caldwell

On last week's show we discussed a Rasmussen poll in which 61 percent of likely voters do not believe that the federal government possesses the necessary consent of the governed. Tragedy Of The Commons, Blizzard Edition

February 9, 2010 by Rick Caldwell

Radley points out, in a brilliantly simple way, the difference between what happens when people expect government to do something and what happens when they don't. It's called the tragedy of the commons.

where people expect the city to send eventually plows, the road is still snowed. Where the city has no history of sending a plow, and isn’t likely to, residents grabbed shovels, and cleared the road in 24 hours.

Read this language that was added by Democrats to a piece of legislation, after some anti-tax groups succeeded in having it put up to a referendum, then see if you can find what is so terribly, terribly wrong with it:

'Bout Damn Time

Finally, some common sense on marijuana laws is coming home to Virginia. And, it's coming from a republican, no less! Not only would H.B. 1136 allow doctors to prescribe marijuana as a medicine, but another bill sponsored by delegate - and pharmacist - Harvey Morgan, H.B. 1134, would go a long way toward relegalizing marijuana in the old dominion. Here's what the bill would do, according to NORML:
