Wondering: Do You Consent To Be Governed?

March 2, 2010 by Rick Caldwell

On last week's show we discussed a Rasmussen poll in which 61 percent of likely voters do not believe that the federal government possesses the necessary consent of the governed. Meanwhile, 63 percent of what Rasmussen calls the "political class" believes (as they are incentivised to believe) that they do in fact have all the consent they need to impose whatever tyranny they wish.

So since then I've been wondering about something. Does this mean that those voters in the 61 percent do not themselves consent to be governed? Wouldn't that be remarkable if they did not? I'm suddenly mainstream! Hoodathunkit? But, since I can't ask those particular individuals who answered the poll, I'd like to ask you, IFAQ visitors.

First, do you believe the federal government has sufficient consent of the governed?
Second, do you, as a sovereign individual consent to be governed by this federal government.
Third, do you consent to be governed at all?
